Wheelchair users

Our information applies to normal wheelchairs .

BOOKING

Wheelchairs must be registered for all journeys. Ideally, reserve your desired trip a week before departure, as we have to add to the crew if there is a certain number of wheelchairs. Walking aids and rollators can be taken on board. Here, too, we recommend that you register in advance.

TABLE RESERVATION

Themed cruises : Bookings for a themed cruise automatically include a table reservation for the number of people booked. We are happy to accept your table requests when booking, but ask for your understanding that we can neither confirm nor guarantee them. The tables are arranged on the day of the journey. Table requests are ranked according to the possibility of division (number of people, available tables, …) after receipt of the booking.

We are happy to reserve a suitable one for wheelchair users Table on the main deck .

Liner shipping : Table reservation for group bookings and menu orders possible. Otherwise free choice of seats. We are happy to reserve a suitable one for wheelchair users Table on the main deck .

BOAT TRIPS WITH INCLUDED BUS TRANSFERS

On the day trips with bus transfers (eg “Vienna – Dürnstein Special” or “Dürnstein – Vienna Special” or “Christmas Market Schloss Hof”) unfortunately no Transport for wheelchair users is possible by bus. This does not apply to guests who are only temporarily dependent on a wheelchair and who are able to get on and off independently.

If you are not permanently dependent on a wheelchair, are traveling with an accompanying person, your wheelchair can be folded and stowed in the hold of the bus, and you can get on and off the coach independently, you are very welcome to take part in this excursion take part.

ELECTRIC WHEELCHAIRS

Electric wheelchairs are possible on the three ships MS Admiral Tegetthoff, MS Dürnstein and MS Wachau. On board the sister ships MS Admiral Tegetthoff and MS Dürnstein there are special and reinforced ramps to overcome the two stairs when entering the ship.

Heavy multifunctional wheelchairs or care wheelchairs are unfortunately not possible. The ramps are only intended for the boarding area on the ship, but not for overcoming possible stairs on the landing stages.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE TOILETS

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE MOORINGS

Please notice that not Barrier-free entry and exit is possible at all stations. The boarding of the excursion boats takes place at a slight angle, depending on the water level, via a wheelchair-accessible transition bridge to a floating pontoon and then further onto the ship. If possible, ramps are provided for wheelchairs to make it easier to negotiate the entry step. The wheelchair usually has to be lifted for this entry and exit process. Our crew will be happy to help you get on and off!

Impaired vision

For your own safety, blind guests can only travel with an accompanying person. We recommend booking all boat trips in order to be able to cater to the special needs of stowaways.

dogs

Dogs can generally free , but must be carried with a muzzle and leash. We recommend that you let us know if you are bringing a dog with you when you make your reservation. For Guide dogs and assistance dogs who have passed the state-recognized examination and are entered in the orange disability pass no Muzzle or leash compulsory.

Defibrillator

There is a defibrillator on all of our ships. Our crew and service staff are continuously trained in first aid. A Defibrillator is a medical device The purpose of which is to restore the heart to a normal rhythm by means of a strong but brief electrical shock in the event of a life-threatening cardiac arrhythmia (so-called ventricular fibrillation).

Discover the “Queen among Europe’s rivers” with the DDSG Blue Danube. The Danube is the most sung about river, it crosses a world cultural heritage, glides majestically between vineyards, breaks through rock massifs, offers imaginative views and a lot of variety. For the curious and first-time visitors as well as for “repeat offenders” and connoisseurs.
