Experience the blossoming of around 100,000 apricot trees in the world-famous Wachau region between Krems and Spitz. The World Heritage region is transformed into a breathtaking sea of pink and white apricot blossoms.

Depending on the weather conditions, the flowering period can extend from March to the first weeks of April, as not all apricot varieties flower at the same time. This means that the early varieties at lower altitudes begin to blossom first and the later varieties at higher altitudes show their beauty a little later. The spectacle can therefore extend over a period of 10 days to 3 weeks.

Saturday and/or Sunday as soon as the apricot trees start to blossom. We will inform you as soon as a date is fixed.

These insider tips will help you plan an unforgettable trip to the apricot blossom.

In the summer months, you can then enjoy excellent dishes of the ripe apricot fruit on our day trip to the “Alles Marille” festival in Krems.

Excursion tip - Hike to the Hinterhaus ruins

During your stay in Spitz, you can also take a hike to the Hinterhaus ruins. The start and finish of the hiking route is the DDSG boat landing stage no. 15. You can enjoy a wonderful view of Spitz from the Hinterhaus ruins and the Lusthaus.

For the hike you must at least 2 hours depending on walking speed and stops. Please note that this hike is NOT suitable for small children, baby carriages or people who are not good walkers. We also recommend that you wear sturdy shoes.

Excursion tip - Walk through Spitz

You can also take a walk through Spitz during your stay in Spitz. Start and finish at DDSG landing stage no. 15, where you can discover the historic center of Spitz. On the way back, you can stroll along the Danube banks.

For the walk you must at least 1 hour depending on walking speed and stops.

Where can i buy tickets?

Tickets are available at our landing piers in Vienna and in the Wachau.
You can also conveniently purchase your tickets via the obtain an online shop and print them out at home as Print @ Hometickets.

In the case of boat trips with included bus transfers, transport for wheelchair users is unfortunately not possible.

The restaurant area is a smoke-free zone for all boat trips.
