DAY TRIPS
On Saturdays with the stylish MS Kaiserin Elisabeth to Bratislava
The castle, the Old Town Hall and the St. Michael’s Gate, along with Bratislava’s Old Town, are just a few of the sights that you can explore in the Slovakian capital. Right at the start of the journey we go through the Freudenau lock along the Lobau and the Danube floodplains to Hainburg and on towards our destination. The four-hour stay in Bratislava offers enough time for sightseeing and a long walk.
Christmas market on the main square
Visit the Christmas market right in the old town. Handicrafts from small Slovak workshops, toys, Christmas decorations or textiles are waiting for you. Feast on roast goose, potato pancakes and strudel.
You can find more detailed information about the Christmas market here!

Then along the medieval city wall and past the Grassalkovich Palace – today’s presidential palace, as well as the “inverted pyramid” and the former archbishop’s summer palace – today’s seat of government. Along the Freedom Square with the lime tree flower to the Fountain of Peace. Then it’s up the palisade path to Bratislava Castle with a wonderful panoramic view of the city and the surrounding area. Here you can take a closer look at the castle complex of Bratislava and then drive down to the old town.
